Top Fall Cocktails 2025 (and How to Make Them at Home)

When the leaves turn golden and the air gets that perfect sweater-weather chill, it’s time to swap your spritzes and slushies for cocktails with depth, spice, and warmth. Fall is about cozy nights, crisp afternoons, and flavours that feel like comfort in a glass.

We're serving these seasonal favourites at MTL Craft Cocktails at our private events, and we’d love to share how you can make them at home for your smaller, more intimate gatherings. Every recipe is simple enough to recreate with pantry staples, but if you want to level up, we’ve included quick swaps using our handcrafted syrups.

1. Maple Butterfly

An autumn take on our signature Butterfly cocktail. Gin meets smoky maple, with a citrus lift and that magical color-changing effect.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz gin
  • ¾ oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz maple syrup
  • ¾ oz butterfly pea tea (steeped and cooled
  • Optional shortcut: Use ½ oz of our Butterfly Syrup instead of brewing the tea.

To Make:
Shake gin, lemon, and maple syrup with ice. Strain into a coupe. Gently layer the butterfly pea tea on top for a dramatic color shift. Garnish with a rosemary sprig.

2. Spiced Cranberry Margarita

A cozy fall riff on the margarita with tart cranberry, warming cinnamon, and a touch of citrus.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz tequila blanco
  • ¾ oz fresh lime juice
  • ½ oz cranberry juice
  • ¼ oz simple syrup
  • Small pinch of ground cinnamon

Optional shortcut: Swap the simple syrup + cinnamon for ½ oz of our Spiced Syrup for a perfectly balanced, ready-to-pour version.

To Make:
Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into a rocks glass. Garnish with cinammon stick or a dehydrated orange wheel.

3. Autumn Garden Negroni

A bittersweet, herbal take on the Negroni with cozy fall notes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • 1 oz aperitivo (like Campari)
  • ¼ oz rosemary syrup

To Make:
Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into a rocks glass over a large cube. Garnish with a rosemary sprig and/or an orange twist.

4. Maple Bourbon Sour

The Whiskey Sour gets a Quebecois autumn upgrade.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • ¾ oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz maple syrup
  • 1 egg white (optional, for texture)

To Make:
Shake all ingredients dry (without ice) if using egg white. Then shake again with ice and strain into a coupe or rocks glass. Garnish with a lemon wheel.

5. Cider Moscow Mule

A fall classic that tastes zesty, crisp, and spiked with apple cider.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 3 oz hard apple cider
  • ½ oz ginger syrup
  • Optional shortcut: Use 1 oz of our House Ginger Syrup and top with your favorite cider.

To Make:
Build in a mule mug or rocks glass with ice. Stir and garnish with an apple slice.
